Tourist centre coming up on Thummalapenta sea coast

AP Tourism Dept is planning to develop, expand and sustain sea coast tourism infrastructure in Nellore district. As part of this, the Thummalapenta sea coast near Kavali is being developed as an attractive tourist centre. AP Tourism is seeking possession of 10 acre land earmarked for such purposes near the beach.

The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, has sanctioned Rs. 3.77 crore for developing this tourist centre of which the first instalment of Rs. 3.02 crore has already been released. Apart from the Tourist Information Centre to be built at a cost of Rs. 1.72 crore, other proposed facilities include entrance plaza, spacious parking lot, entrance gateway, soft landscape, children’s play area, seating, utility area, pathways, signages, dust bins, jetty and so on.

A similar project is already being developed at Mypadu beach in the Nellore district at a cost of Rs. 1.65 crore. Four acres of land was acquired for this. Various tourist-friendly facilities are being created here. The tourism department has also built 5 cottages at a cost of Rs.52 lakh to attract more tourists to the Ramayapatnam beach near Kavali, Nellore district.
