Ramayapatnam News

Hopes revived for the early grounding of the Ramayapatnam port, with a Central team visiting the project site to conduct a fresh feasibility study on Thursday. The location of sea port at Ramayapatnam in Prakasam district is in the final stage of clearance by the Center.

The team, headed by B.M. Arora of the Rail India Technical and Economic Services (Transport and Economics Division), commenced a study on the export import cargo traffic potential of the proposed greenfield seaport.

Export of granite and aqua products would become easier once the port is operational. Investors from China and Singapore are already showing interest in investing in the district and a proposal has been sent to the government for allotting 5,000 acres of land to a Chinese company. The government has identified 5,000 acres for the sea port, which is expected to give a fillip to port-based industries.
